An engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor providing supporting services for a major electronics industrial park in Bac Giang Province needed to rapidly build a temporary worker accommodation camp for 500 personnel as part of the park's Phase II expansion. The project had an 18-month timeline, a site area of approximately 8,000 square meters, and required complete installation within 45 days.
Bac Giang Province experiences a tropical monsoon climate. Summer temperatures (May to October) regularly reach 35–38°C, with relative humidity soaring to 85–95%. Annual rainfall ranges from 1,600 to 1,800 millimeters. The typhoon season, from July to September, can bring wind forces of up to Force 8–10 in coastal areas. These conditions place extreme demands on ventilation, moisture control, drainage, and wind resistance in camp design.
Overall Camp Layout
The camp adopts a linear row layout with a 6-meter-wide main corridor and a minimum spacing of 8 meters between dormitory buildings to ensure unobstructed natural ventilation. The entire camp is divided into four functional zones: the dormitory area, public service center, dining area, and logistics support area.

All modules were prefabricated at the factory in China and shipped by sea from Guangzhou's Nanshan Port to Hai Phong Port in Vietnam, with a transit time of approximately 3–4 days. From Hai Phong to the Bac Giang job site, the overland distance is about 120 kilometers, requiring roughly 3 hours by road transport. Upon arrival at the site, modules were lifted into position one by one using cranes. On-site work was limited to bolted connections and utility hookups, dramatically reducing the construction timeline.
After project delivery, the EPC contractor's project manager commented: "Previously, when we built worker accommodation using conventional methods, it took at least three months. This time, everything was completed in 42 days, and the workers' living conditions are far superior to what we had before. The moisture-proofing and drainage design, in particular, gave us complete peace of mind during the rainy season."
